R.P Patnaik, the veteran film director has come up with his second venture, a movie titled ‘Friends Book’. The movie features Uday, Surya, Archana, Nischal, Nisha Shetty and Suresh in the lead roles. The movie is produced by Welfare Creations group. The film revolves round a group of friends who are involved in various fields of life. All of them are very unhappy with their respective jobs and share a common aim of establishing a profitable business. So as to achieve their aim, they quit and think about making software which can identify and remove the accounts which are fake from the popular site Facebook. They achieved success in their design and submit a proposal to Facebook. Their proposal gets accepted and when everything seems to be in their favour, a shocking twist comes in their way. The rest of the story is what is the twist and will they succeed in making money.

The plus points of the film are that the actors Nischal, Suresh and Surya did justice to their roles. Nisha Shetty and Archana were ok so far as their performance is concerned, while it is Rao Ramesh who steals the show with good performance in a negative role. The first half of the film is breezy with the suspense being maintained throughout the film. Comedy is quite good at places while direction is also good in the first half and some songs are shot well.

The minus points however, come in the form that the director fails in clarity on the technical aspect. Some silly mistakes are made in the concept of software to identify the fake accounts and in the way it does things. The second half is disappointing and there are mistakes in the screenplay. There is lack of clarity in the message delivered by the director and the story keeps wandering between a murder mystery and a psychological thriller. Editing is jerky with scope of improvements and the dialogues are good. Cinematography is not proper.

Rating: 2.5/5

Verdict: it is a poor film with not much logic in it and one can stay away from the film.
