Fahad Fazil and Jayaram set to do film together

Malayalam star Fahad Fazil is all set to work with Jayaram for director Sibi Malayil’s comeback film ‘Njangalude Veettile Athidhikal’, industry sources are reporting. The two male leads of the film will be played by Fazil and Jayaram. Popular actress Priya Mani will be seen in the female lead role of the film. Abhirami set to play police officer in upcoming film

Malayalam actress Abhirami is making a comeback after 10 years with soon to be released film ‘Apothecary’. But as per industry reports, she all already involved in another project in which she is set to play a police officer. The film in question is ‘Driver On Duty’. In the film Abhirami will be playing the role of sub inspector Arundathi Varma. Her character is said to be based on the real life lady Kuttiyamma, one of earliest women police officers in the state of Kerala. Abhirami, was settled in US after marriage but decided to return to the world of films after her Virumandi co-star, legendary actor Kamal Hassan insisted her. The two of them got in touch during the dubbing work of the film ‘Vishwaroopam’. She was lending voice to Pooja Kumar, the leading lady of the film.

Abhirami’s comeback film ‘Apothecary’ will feature her as the leading lady opposite Suresh Gopi . She has already worked twice with Suresh Gopi in the films ‘Pathram’ and ‘Megasandesham’. ‘Apothecary’ is a thriller film with medical theme directed by Madhav Ramadasan. On the other hand, ‘Driver On Duty’ will be a comedy film, directed by the debutant Manoj Paloden.

Jai may work with Trisha in upcoming film

Tamil star Jai last pairing with an industry A lister had been 2013 for the film ‘Raja Rani’ where he acted with Nayantara. Now he has the opportunity to work another top actress of the southern industries, Trisha. According to industry sources, although Trisha has shown interest, she is yet to give a clear green light to the project.

The film titled ‘Podiyan’ will be directed by Manimaran of ‘Udhayam NH4’ fame. The film will be produced by Varun Manian of Radiance Media and Govindraj and Sushant Prasad of Film Department. The film’s music will be created by Vivek – Mervin who were behind the score of ‘Vadacurry’ in Jai played the lead too. Cinematography will be handled by Velraj. The official launch of the film is scheduled for August 15th.

Jai, in recent times has come under media spotlight in several occasions. Recently, his decision to follow Islam had raised many questions in the media and the industry. So far he has managed to give dignified answers to the posed questions while emphasizing the fact that it is a private matter of the matter. However he has got a lot of publicity recently and that may have worked in favor of his last release, ‘Vadacurry’.

Malayalam film ‘Double Barrel’ to have an ensemble cast

Films with ensemble cast have become quite popular in Bollywood in recent years. Now it looks like the Malayalam film industry is also adopting this trend. After films like ‘Koothara’ (director Srinath Rajendran) and ‘Bangalore Days’ ( directed by Anjali Menon), director Lijo Jose Pellissery has decided to make his next film with an ensemble cast where several prominent actors will be seen playing key roles. The title of the film is ‘Eratta Kuzhal’ or ‘Double Barrel’. Playing the important roles will be actors’ like- Prithviraj, Asif Ali, Indrajith, Swathi Reddy, Sunny Wayne and Rachana Narayanankutty. Talking about the film, the director Lijo jose said, “All the stars share equal screen space and each character has got their own identity. This is a light-hearted comedy entertainer revolving around this gang.”

Reportedly, the film will have retro 70’s style to it in the get up of the characters. When asked about the details regarding the film, the director replied, As of now, I can only say it is set against the backdrop of Goan culture and will be shot majorly in Goa.” Composer Prashant Pillai will be composing the film’s music. The film is expected to go to the floors around 20th July.
