Racha Movie Review

Cast: Ram Charan, Tamanna Bhatia, Ajmal Ameer

Director: Sampath Nandi

Producer: NV Prasad, Paras Jain

Music: Mani Sharma

The Telugu movie ‘Racha’ featuring Ram Charan Tej and Tamanna has already hit the screens on the 5th of April with the highest number of prints. It is directed by Sampath Nandi and is jointly produced by N.V. Prasad and Paras Jain. Ram Charan has missed the Hat trick after two successful films coming his way. He is now back with an entertainer with his stunts and dancing along with the glamour of Tamanna. The story of the film is based on Raju played by Charan who earns his living with clever bettings and goes into a betting with James played by Ajmal Ameer so as to make Chaitra played by Tamanna fall in love with him. For this he joins the college of Chaitra as a medical student and finally she falls in love with him. In the meantime, Chaitra’s father played by Mukesh Rishi, a powerful don enters the scene and the rest is what forms the crux of the film.

The story of the film runs on the commercial sequence of romance, fights and songs. Bhramanandan, Thagubothu Ramesh has provided its audience with some comedy. Sampath Nandi has done nothing new except the things which can be predicted. He has compromised with the addition of thrills and comedy sequences as he had in it Mega Power. Tamanna was not well utilised. The first half of the film is entertaining with blend of emotion and entertainment. The tempo goes down in the second half due to the conventional tradition narration and prediction but comes back with in the pre climax scenes and ends on a good note.

Although the movie is not so good with substance but so far as the performance of Ram Charan is concerned, he has improved a lot. He maintained perfect timing in comedy and was full of energy in all his actions. It is infact he took the whole film in his shoulders. Tamanna was hot and was on par with Charan in dances. She was glamorous with her action, looks and sex appeal. Bhramanandam was hilarious all throughout like Rangeela. Mukesh Rishi and Kota Srinivas Rao did well in their performances. Partthiban has a brief role but leaves an impact in its audience.

Speaking about the technicalities, the production values are great. Dialogues by Parchuri Brothers are satisfactory though dialogues for emotional scenes were lengthy. Music by Mani Sharma was average. Fight sequences seems to be unnatural while cinematography done by Sameer Reddy is the major asset of the film. Editing could have been better. The first half of the movie is quite entertaining with good fights, comedy and dances while in the second half the story unfolds and the bamboo fight sequence come out well. The second half of the film is good to watch with twists and turns and a powerful climax. So far as the content of the film is concerned it is not unique but it does not mean that it fails to impress one. With a long weekend ahead and no big releases this week, ‘Racha’ would turn out to be a commercial hit. It is a masala film and a good entertainer. From all aspects of the film it is not unique in its content but a good entertainer to watch in this weekend. The performances of Tamanna and Ram Charan, screenplay, dialogues and Background music grab the attention of the audiences while its predictable story and the routine work brings it down to some extent.

Rating: 3.5/5

Verdict: the film is a good entertainer and can be watched for full entertainment.
